Where is the oil filter located on an 96 S500 sedan? On the right side (passenger side) of the engine, there is something that looks like an oil filter toward the lower front of the engine, is that the oil filter? If so, how do I loosen it?

Yes that's it. You use a long extension and a 13mm socket.
