How about...

germantransmission.net in Cummings, GA? That's down Bill & Donnie's way, I wonder if either of them might be familiar. I've beento the web site, but no knowledge of the subject.

I gotta find out more about Germantransmissions. There prices are about half off what I've been seeing! Any body in the metro area know anything about them? It's about 185 miles from where I live and I will get the chance to drive on Ga. 400!!

Keep us posted on your findings

My tranny has persistent slipping, and at the prices Germantransmissions has on theit site, I could pull my tranny, make the 18 hour drive and swap for less than most places want for a rebuild. I can't say that I'll need to, but having a good resource would be nice.

Bribenz,

What problems have you had with the purchases from Adsit?

I'm thinking of getting a rebuilt 3.8 liter engine for my car from them. Could you please describe them in more detail?

-Sam

PS-this is confusing, as I have heard both good and bad things about them, more good than bad.

So far, Adsit's batting zero!! I tried to call Germantransmissions.net today but I got an answering machine, I don't do business with answering machines. I guess I'm back to square one!:( :( :(

Also check the dealers. They have had some great deals on factory exchange rebuilds.

I called German transmissions again yesterday and got an answer. Lady with an accent (German?)took my info and said she would "call me back". She called back this morning and said she had my transmission @ $850 and torque converter for additional $150. Hmmmn, price is real good I'm thinking. Then she asked how I want to pay, so I tell her credit card to get the transaction rolling (and for my protection). Website shows they take several different cards. She informs me she cannot take credit cards. Does this sound a little fishy to yall? I also checked the Chamber of Commerce for that area and they're not a member. Better Business Bureau never head of them either, which could be a good thing I guess. At any rate I'm getting cold feet on this one. I just can't imagine any business that sells high ticket items not taking credit cards.

It wouldn't take me back much if it was a wholesaler, but for an outfit selling retail (and at a startlingly low price), I wouldn't touch it with a 10-foot pole. I would also point out the wisdom of paying attention to the Adsit stories -- they are typical rather than unusual. I've never heard of the outfit in Washington, but the outfit in Sun Valley has a decent reputation. Our rebuilder is in Orlando.

I originally sought out TBR, but I can't get anybody to sell me one!!

Mike Richards 06-06-2002 02:22 PM

According to Benzmacs post, you can get TBR products from this sites partsshop.
