When a clutch disc has thrown material it is usually a sign of roughly using the trans to slow the car / down shifting at too high a speed ( a unclamped disc reaches very high speed ) / rough up shifts. What happens is the torque reversal works the friction material under the rivets causing it to loosen and fall apart. |

Gone as in no friction material left, just some bent rivets. They didn't seem to damage either surface though. There was some clutch material pieces scattered around the bell housing.
And false alarm about the flywheel. I sent it off to a machine shop and they found the amount of play is with limits and resurfaced it (the surface was cooked) for $100.. |
