Troy-Bilt TB575EC string trimmer starter cord problems.....

Sorry to post here, I don't know where else to turn with this issue. My Troy-Bilt TB575EC string trimmer was starting and working fine. Last night I was messing around with the bump head/string housing and removed the three screws from the black clutch cover housing and disconnected it from the main body containing the engine (there was no reason to remove it, I think I did it out of frustration). I then reinstalled it (I thought properly but perhaps not?). Now, the starter pull cable won't fully extend so that I can start the engine. Any ideas?

PS first photo shows the limited travel of the string pull, the second photo shows the screws I've removed from both the front half (red plastic) and the cover for the engine (back half, black plastic).

Was finally able to remove the shaft from the power head. It appears I may need to remove the clutch to get to the starter recoil? Any help or suggestions are appreciated.....

TB575EC trimmer clutch removal

Just ordered the complete recoil starter assembly including the cover, should be here in a few days. I believe the clutch assembly is OK. I'm thinking it may be time to think about stepping up to a Honda string trimmer......

The Troy-Bilt TB575EC is a half crank model, their TB675EC model string trimmer is a full crank. The full crank model has the string pull start on the REAR of the engine whereas the one half crank model has the string pull start on the FRONT of the engine.

I'm no expert on these things but it appears the full crank model is a superior design and perhaps worth the extra $$$$$$......

Get a Stihl and don't run anything in it except the high test, no ethanol pre mix.

I finally got the clutch cover removed (torx T20, I believe). As I stated earlier, the string pulls out about a foot then locks. I placed a large screwdriver on the clutch and then hammered trying to turn it counter-clockwise. I hit it pretty hard but it wouldn't budge. I just placed some Kroil underneath as close to the threads as I could get using a syringe.

Hopefully in the morning I can turn the clutch counter-clockwise using either a screwdriver or a heavy bar of some kind and a hammer and remove it.

Here is a link to a website selling the clutch. I read on some web site that you can use a slotted wrench to remove the clutch although I don't see where the wrench would engage?

Could spanner wrenches like these work?
