190e 2.3 8V valve question
My 1985 190e 8V has valves making a LOT of noise. The head was milled (making it slightly shorter), valves replaced, new camshaft and new rocker arms. I understand that the lifters are hydralic, but is there an adjustment of any sort? What about the little shims that the lifter barrel rests on (inside the rocker arm)? Do they come in varing thicknesses? Or the little disk between the lifter and the valve stem? Does that come in different thicknesses? I fear that I cannot completely tune the engine until my valves are properly adjusted. All help is appreciated.

As you guessed they do come in different sizes, the one above the lifter comes in 3 sizes from 1.5 to 2.2 mm. The lower one comes in 2 sizes as well, 3.0 & 3.5 mm.

Thanks MBDOC. I will check the clearences and order up the appropriate shim. Then I will make yet another attempt to correctly tune the engine.
