212 fan switch in 1989 560SL

212 fan sensor switch is marked 105 (degreees C) and 115 (degrees C).
and does come on at 115 and go off at 105. Seems like the car gets pretty hot standing in traffic.
Question: Why is it called a 212 fan if it doesn't come on till 115Celcius which is 239F. Are there different fan censor swithes?
Thanks for any info. Aaron

Sounds like you are talking about the GREEN 3-pole temp sensor?!
The two different readings are for 2 different functions, the 105C is for turning the aux fan ON. The 115C reading is for turning the A/C off if the engine gets that hot!

If you want to get the aux fan on at 100C then you need a RED switch part # 006-545-42-24 to replace that old green one.

Thanks MB DOC. Really appreciate the info. Can you explain to me why my aux fan does come on at 115 and goes of at 105. A/C doesnt seem to be shutting down at 115.
Car runs great and is almost always at 90 C except in heavy or stopped traffic when it goes up to 115. At that point the aux fan comes on and brings it down to 105. Should the car get that hot?
Thanks , Aaron
