Dome/map light issue 92 500sl

Trying to change my dome light rocker switch. pulled housing off and now trying to remove plug and replace switch. I can not remove the plug? There appears to be a clip at the top and bottom of plug. I stuck a Credit card in both to release the clip from crabbing the plug. Tried to wiggle off with finger no luck. Tried to pull of with channel locks no luck. All i did was nick the edge of the plug which I have to fix now. Here are some pictures about what I am talking about. There must be some thing else holding the plug on to the switch?

I'd make a diagram of the wires in case they fall out of the plug.

Old plastic can stick together making things difficult to disassemble. In this case, rocking the plug around can free things up rather than a straight pull.

This looks like the old round pin type connector, I'd be tempted to remove the plugs back cover ( how ever that comes off. ) , using a sharp pointed tool to lever the pin sockets out then working the plastic housing out of the switch.

Got a pic of the new switch?

So, as it turns out it was operator failure. I did not release the latches (top and bottom) properly and it was being held in place. I am such a dork. Anyway, finally got them released and popped out the switches. The right switch was bad..this is the side that controls every thing. The left was ok but replaced both. Every thing works now except when you open the door(either door) dome does not come on. All other interior lights puddle and foot wells work also right map lights(both) work Left switch works to turn on Both map lights. I am stumped do not know what to check to try and run down why dome does not come on when you open the doors or unlock the doors?
