How to remove panel in 2000 E320W to replace brake light switch
 

Hi, I have a 2000 E320W 5 passenger sedan and I am trying to replace the brake light switch. To do so I think I need to remove the panel under the steering wheel that covers the area above the brake pedal. Based on some videos it was supposed to be an easy thing to do, but when I tried, I removed all the screws I could see down there and could still not remove the panel. Does someone know the steps to do this and the screws, bolts, clips etc that need to be removed? Any schematics or pictures would be great. Thanks in advance for any help! If it is relevant the engine is a 3.2 liter twin spark 18 valve aluminum v6.
