Oil Sensor Defective message on Instrument Cluster
Hi,
I just purchased a 1998 Benz E 430 yesterday and it's popping up with a message once in a while. The message indicates that "Oil Senor is Defective" . I looked at alldata and it shows that BMW has a service call on this, however, i want to see if anyone here knows what that mesasge means? Is it really faulty? or is there something I can do to get rid of this nagging problem. Thanks Mitul 1998 E-430 Champagne 46000 Miles |

Does anyone know where the Oil Sensor is located in E430?

Yes, that message usually means that the sensor is defective. The sensor is inside of the engine. You must remove the lower oil pan to access the sensor. There have 3-4 modifications to this sensor since it came out in 1998. The latest number is 004-153-53-28 & has a list of $69.20.
