I don't want to get into a debate on the merits (or the lack of) of purchasing an extended warranty for a new MB, but I've assumed that the electronics built in to the newer cars would improve efficiency and reliability in the long run. Most of the posts that I have read (on various mailgroups) have been suspicious of the new technology and that it can only lead to hefty repair bills. I know that it's probably still too early to draw any real conclusions, but has anyone heard of any major failures of electrical systems in the newer cars?

I have seen one of the new Y2K S classes taken apart end to end to replace the entire wiring harness...I like extended warranties for they have saved many of my customers much money!!
