w210 scanner

hello everyone, its been quite a while since ive posted on a benz forum. im happy to say i will be buying a 1999 e class diesel .Ive cut my teeth on the 123 and 126 chassis but this is a bit more advanced than ive had.my question is on scanners, i want a scanner to reset oil intervals and read and help diag cel and abs and airbag codes.i have about 500.00 to spend. any suggestions?

You don't need a scanner to reset the oil change interval. That is done using the buttons near the speedometer. The instructions are in the owner's manual. There is also a YouTube video that explains how to do it.

I've owned a '98 e300 for more than 10 years and have reset the interval several times. I can't remember what I did. The last time, I went to the video as I could not fine my owner's manual.

There are a number of helpful YouTube videos for various w210 repairs and maintenance.

The Autel Maxidas 708 works fine for this application. Just make sure it comes with Benz adapter.

That thing looks like it came from the bottom of a lake.

Besides rust this is the main disadvantage of the W210 vs newer MB models. There's no cheap, user friendly readily available scan tool that will let you read live data and trouble codes from every system in your W210.
