Front End Vibration on 300E
 

I just had the ball joints on my '86 300E (69,250 miles) replaced and the wheel alignment done. And after that I am noticing the following:

1. There is a vibration from the front end that I am feeling at the streering wheel (more pronounced at higher speeds). The tie rod ends and the bushings are in good shape.

2. The car tracks to the right.

Is it safe to assume that the first problem is due to an imbalanced wheel(s)?

And could the pulling to the right be associated to the vibration?

The pull to the right is either an alignment problem or a tire pull. As for the vibration , normally if a tire is out of balance you will get a slight shimmy in the steering wheel at certain speeds. So without driving the car its hard to say it could be the tires or even motor mounts when they go bad and hit the idler arm bushing bolt. :D

If it is pulling to the right, I would question the alignment! Did MB did or somebody else?
As far as the vibration, did you change the steering shock? balance wheel?:confused:

You need to start by checking tire pressure all around. This can cause a pull.

Are the wheels properly dynamically balanced with balance weight applied to the inboard AND the outboard wheel lips? It is very common to see the tire stores static balance with weight only on the inboard lip. If this is the case, the wheels MUST be dynamically balanced.
