W126 blower motor squealing

My W126 (1988) has been setting quite a bit lately, but I have been starting it and letting it run for about 10-15 minutes per week and moving it about the driveway, but on Sunday afternoon I turned on the HVAC and the blower has started squeaking. It does not squeak at first, but after a few seconds, it will start to squeal and sounds like it slows down.

Is there a repair procedure by lubing the wheel or motor or does something have to be replaced?

Thanks.

Maybe a mouse or a mouse nest? The car has not been driven on the road over the last several months, but I have been starting it up every week or so and let it run for awhile and move it about the driveway, but never turned on the blower. I thought it was from lack of use.

I guess I will just have to remove the panel and see what is going on. Must be an uncommon issue.

If the blower is squealing the only real culprit is the motor bearings. If you stopped it as soon as it started squealing you can very likely save it just with some oil dribbled on the bearings (use Zoom oil for best results). If you've been running it with it squealing anyway, the bearings are ruined by this point and you'll need a motor.

Thumbs up

Easy to R&R it and about $80 for a Bosch motor. Reuse your blower cage. Can probably swap in an hour.
