Front right wheel-Burning Hot on 190E 2.3 16V
 

I have noticed that the front right wheel is extremely hot everytime i drive even 6-10 miles. All three other wheels are cool for the most part. The front left will heat up a little and be little warm on occasion but thats normal. I was wondering if this can be isolated to a problem with the caliper or if there is some other possibility. Any suggestions?

could be dragging a pad?

check to ensure that the surfaces that the caliper moves on is free and clear.

I agree that a seizing caliper will cause the pad to drag, and the hub and wheel will get hot.

Will a spun wheel bearing do the same thing? If so, then that might be a problem too.

I would have thought it unlikely that a wheel bearing would seize and cause this so the heat is almost certainly due to a sticking caliper. Probably best sorted sooner rather than later, otherwise you'll risk cracking the disk.

The only problem that i have with saying that this problem is indefinatly the caliper is that when i brake the car brakes perfectly, it doesn't feel like i am having any drag no pull to the right side period. Until i pull the wheel off i can't really say yet. Thanks guys.

well, if you're dragging a caliper, it doesn't necessarily mean it's completely seized...just that it's not relaxing when you step off of the brake pedal...something is preventing the caliper from backing the pad off of the rotor.

you said that the car brakes normally...do you find that it's handling any differently at all?

be it a dragging caliper, a siezed caliper or a spun bearing, I should think that you'd notice different handling traits while driving.

it's a place to start, at least.
