95 S320 Lower Wiring Harness Replacement

After a recent transmission change out (lost reverse - after 287K miles), the insulation on the oil pressure sensor wiring fell off and caused the gauge to stop working. After looking at all the wiring on the lower engine wiring harness, all of the smaller wires are in bad shape so I ordered a new OEM harness, and I will replace the harness myself. (As a side note - the upper engine harness was replaced by the dealer about 15 years ago.)

My question is - should I coat any of the electrical connections with any kind of anti-corrosion, or conductive compound during the change out? Or, use silicone lub?

Also, is it best to do this harness change out with the car up on a rack? And, can I reach all the parts from under the vehicle?

Also, I see most of the smaller wires go through connector X27. Is this connector accessible from the engine compartment, or is it inside the passenger's foot compartment area? My manual (alldatadiy) is a little unclear in this area.

Thanks for your help!
