W114 Parking Brake Help

Hey, other w114/w115 owners, I'm having a hell of a time fixing my parking brake. The brake system was disconnected under the car for some unknown reason when I bought it. I've looked at the parts diagram for the system, and I now have all the parts, but I have no idea how it's supposed to be hooked up. I'm referring to all the hardware under the car, not the actual brake. So if anyone has any ideas, or any actual pictures (not the diagram) of the system, that would be a big help!

Greg! You're a lifesaver! Turns out my parking brake is even more messed up than I though, but at least I know how to fix it now. By the way... Where can I get a copy of the FSM??

One thing to be aware of is that Mercedes-Benz usually didn't publish one book for a particular model car. They made books that covered the chassis, and books that covered the engines. Sometimes there are more than one book for a particular chassis. My '69 W114-W115 chassis manual is in one volume, but I also have a 1978 printing of Volume 1 from a set of 2, so there are variations in what's out there depending on when printed. There are separate parts catalogs available by chassis too, which can be handy when you need a part number or want to see an exploded diagram.

Look on eBay for easy options. There are electronic copies available for not a lot of dough. My first service manual for W114 - W115 was one of those sets of CDs off eBay. But I quickly learned that the scanned copy lacked many sections, like this section on the parking brake that my printed manual has. Maybe the electronic copies available now have all original sections included?

10 or more years ago I picked up a copy of the 615/616/617.91 engine manual (non-turbo). Found that one on eBay. It's a more recent printing (1980). I got lucky a couple years ago and found the W114-W115 chassis books I have now for sale here on peachparts in the classifieds. The moral of the story is "dig around and if you don't find what you want right away keep looking". In the meantime there are the forums.

Glad I could help. Cheers!
