Mercedes 450SEL Wagon
Here's a couple photo's of this rare wagon, I noticed locally recently. Doing a search shows there may have been ~123 made, but someone else might have better info. It's sitting at a local repair shop, maybe the owner is on this site to give more info too

I always like to point out car makers that use their sedan platforms and just add to it to make a wagon (Honda accord, Toyota camry come to mind) as it appears what was done to create this car. As opposed to a dedicated and different body to make one as is the case with most other Mercedes wagons

Interesting styling exercise but useless as a wagon with that high loading sill. I wonder if they relocated the fuel tank or left it behind the rear seats. Leaving it behind the rear seats makes it really useless as a wagon.
I don’t know Crayford. I want my custom MB wagon built by Binz. Sixto 98 E320s sedan and wagon 02 C320 wagon |

I have a 1979 300STD (and yes, it IS contagious)
This S Class wagon was formerly owned by George Chambers of George Chambers and The Country Gentlemen Mr Chambers told me he used to haul his stand-up bass around in it. Mr Chambers told me it was hit by a stop sign runner. I have a donor W116 I will take the front clip from for the repair. When I start the project I'll post a thread

I used to see that vehicle occasionally when I was dropping my 300D off to be serviced at David Kehl’s shop in San Antonio. I think it looks cool. I’m glad you are going to save it.

There might have been styling exercises but MB never sold a 116 wagon. I don’t think Binz did either.
