Tool Rental Program?

So it appears the TRP is dead, or at very best, on life support. It would be nice to see it thrive as there are still many (I think) who like/want/need to do their own 'heavy' repairs - those requiring specialized tooling.

In the midst of my rear suspension tune up and I could sure use the wheel carrier bushing R&R tool as well as a spring compressor. If anyone has one or both of these and is interested in renting it out, please reply

This should get the bushings replaced -

http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/diesel-discussion/301701-home-made-$15-w124-lca-bushing-tool.html

There are Klann clone spring compressors for $100. Return shipping a kit is almost that.

If you’re only doing the carrier bushings, you don’t need a spring compressor. I would think you don’t need a spring compressor at all for the rear of a wagon with SLS.

Tool Rental Program?

I need to ADD a pic of my 260E to my signature!

This project is not on the wagon. And you (sixto) are correct, I do not need the spring compressor for the work in doing at the moment but I'm thinking of future stuff

Dale

EDIT: BTW, I went out today and bought all the parts and pieces for that homemade puller/pusher for the bushings. I set it up and have tried several different attempts at it with no luck. The 3/4" coupler didn't want to sit square on it so I think what's happening is that it is trying to move the nursing from an angled approach, and that's just not moving it! It's been soaked with tranny fluid/acetone combo so I'm hoping maybe next attempt will be successful...

Thumbs up

I stopped loaning tools when people were not interested in putting up a deposit for replacement cost of the item.

I made the same $15 tool and had the same trouble getting everything to stay square for the pull. Getting it started is the hardest part. Keep trying and you'll eventually get it.

Thanks for the encouragement! I'll give it another try maybe later today but it's just soaking away with penetrating oil.

Did you use this tool to install as well?

Understand. That would be frustrating.
