M110 Water Pump/ Housing Bolts
123.053/ 110.984
While changing the oil yesterday, I noticed a small green drip on the bottom of the Vibration Absorber. IMMEDIATE DENIAL. It sure couldn't be my new water pump... After removing the fan, all the belts, the water pump pulley, the main pulley, and the vibration absorber, I spotted the leak. Initially, I thought the fluid was leaking from the weep hole. After cleaning the bottom of the pump, I then suspected that the leak was eminating from the bottom bolt. I removed the bolt and the coolant began to flow. My question is, are the threads in the pump housing all the way through, or is it a blind hole? That answer will tell me whether the leak is because I failed to use thread sealer, or whether the leak is at the gasket surrounding the bolt hole. I'm not a happy camper! Thanks for reading, MM EDIT - After thinking about the leak, when I run in the bolt 4 or 5 threads, the drip stops substantially, so I am inclined to suspect the threads are through the case of the water pump housing, and I may only need thread sealer. I'd still appreciate comments to confirm what I think is going on.
