Question 2003 SLK Hardtop Problem

I had to replace both trunk lid open/close cylinders due to blown piston rod seals. After installing the cylinders the truck lid it will travel in the open direction but not in the close direction. The trunk lid will not close after opening the roof or closing the roof. Even when the lid is half open, and you change to close, it continues to travel in the open direction. It seems that when it is open and touches the open limit switch it continues past it to the mechanical stops. The limit switch tests good I think. It has an open circuit until the switch arm is moved by the trunk bracket and then the contacts close. Maybe the wires to the limit switch are damaged but I don't know where they go to check continuity, does anyone know? Does anyone know all of the conditions that have to be met to have the lid travel in the close direction? Could there be a bad switch in the trunk latch system that is telling the control that the lid is both open and closed? Does anyone have a wiring diagram or a logic diagram? Where does all the limit switch wiring go, somewhere in the CAN system? What was a mechanical problem has somehow turned into an electrical problem!
