m103 (190e 2.6) fitting in block under #5 exhaust port

On my 1989 190e 2.6, there is a fitting in the engine block with a bulb end and approx. 1/2 inch ID. What is this fitting for?
I've attached a photo of it, circled in yellow. |
It's a block coolant drain valve.

Yes wants to hope you dont need to open it from above its a pita .I worked over a day to open mine up just to drain the block with no success in the end .
