Is head corrosion normal and $250.

My tech just told me the job went up $350.00 due to a head being corroded = new rebuilt head and the time chain cover=100
more.

Is this normal?

No

Head corosion, assuming it means around the coolant passages, means water was used in the radiator instead of coolant, shame on somebody. Up north its called anti-freeze, down south it should be called anti-corrosion. If its a two headed engine it would be on both heads, among other places.

Jim I haven't seen the head yet but it was only

the passenger side head, he said it was because I used water
although I don't think it was for that long a time. The engine did over heat because of the radiator for a while. He said the other side was ok.

He was having trouble taking off the head bolts I hope he didn't ruin one and is now charging me, is 100 bucks what a timing chain cover costs?

I don't know why when I get quoted a price they don't include the possibility of this in it, now I gotta come up with the new balance.

ugh

Its been a bad month
