Foxwell scanner and W211 ride height, YES it can adjust the height!
So after replacing the fried air compressor pump with a nice Arnott, which seems rock solid, I wanted to adjust the ride height (2004 E320 wagon) and the Foxwell 520 seemed not to have that function. Its not shown in instruction outline of functions, but then in the menu under chassis/suspension/special functions it gives both a manual and automatic adjustment feature for ride height adjustment. It seemed not to work at first, just filling way up and then releasing the pressure back to previous levels but now I find the ride height has been raised from a minus 2 to now plus two and now showing plus three. The foxwell also brought my dead headrest motor back to life by setting the travel limits and also had both a manual and auto function. The passenger headrest was fully extended and would return to this high position every restart of the car, and this was also corrected by the limits adjustment function.
I stated the foxwell could not adjust ride height on an MB forum and also asked here, so for the record, yes this $160 some odd dollar unit can do this stuff. Amazing. Sure beats a thousand plus for a Star system.. It also went through all the travel limits on the ac system air control doors and I now find the AC works far better with high airflow volume. thanks Jab... Sorry my details are not more clear and precise. I find you just have to play with the foxwell and try stuff..the compressor actuation will fill struts and then they go down again but there is a special functions menu with f3 and f4 options for fill and release. One raises and the other lowers. It will raise to a certain height, plus two I believe..and thats it. This is about an inch clearance over the rear wheel. Nice firm ride at this height. It will raise much more to plus 8mm and maybe more but then when you turn the car off and close the doors it will drop again to a preset level. It also gives both manual and automatic options to adjust ride height (raise rear and lower rear) and the instructions really dont make sense but they work. something stated about using the inclinometer and being within preset values...
Now in my wagon I notice the passenger rear is lower I suspect due to the huge 100 amp hour battery by the right wheel. I wish I could level the car because it sits lower on that side and it does give a left and right fill strut option but this seems only temporary. And I cant tell its really filling just the left or right. In my car they both seem to be connected to the same reservoir and fill with equal inflation pressure. Let us know how it works! |
