Wanted to put feelers out for any old school Mercedes mechanics in the SF Bay area.

I do alot of work myself but am looking for a mechanic for jobs that might be better suited for a knowledgeable Mercedes mechanic that works in a shop.

I knew of a few but they all retired.

The car is a 1987 300E that I am trying to keep on the road. For most this isn't considered old school, but most mechanics today just know how to use a scan tool and replace modules.

Looking for a mechanic in the SF bay area that knows these cars well and will go easy on me labor wise.

I don't mind driving a bit nor leavning the car for a while.

What sort of $ do you consider " Easy ", what is the going labor rate for 10 year old cars and are you supplying parts?

W124 is pretty easy to work on especially with the info on the internet. I wouldn’t pay someone $150/hour to do the work

Except that does not buy decades of experience to diagnose problems or use the tools.

There is so much info and resources .. videos..on the internet on how to work on stuff. It’s pointless to pay someone hundreds of dollars and dropping your car off for a few days when you can do the same job in a fraction of time and money. But I get it if you have more money than time. Been there before.
