W124 3.2 oil light and gauge

I rewired the lower harness hoping I could fix the gauge maxed out and oil light on. No change. If I change the oil sender would that solve things? |
Sounds like a grounding problem. Check the ground from your instrument panel first. Pull the panel and clip lead directly from the back of the panel to the ground bus. If that fixes your problem, make the positive ground permanent.

So on the circular plug connect pin 5( the oil sensor) to ground ?

No. Clip the metal shell of the instrument panel to ground.
