Lease End Invoice - Charging Me for Scratch That Wasn't There When I Turned It In.
I turned in my '15 Mercedes C300 to Anaheim MBZ at the end of its lease. They just took the keys and told me that's it. I signed a document verifying the miles on the odometer.
Today, I received an invoice from Mercedes charging me for the mileage overage, end of lease fee, and a $256 charge for a 3 inch scratch on the bumper that wasn't there when I turned in the vehicle. What can I do to challenge this? I am 100% certain that the scrape was not there when I turned in the car. Has anyone dealt with Mercedes with this type of issue? What should I expect?tweakbox appvalley https://vlc.onl/ |
BushBond, when renting a vehicle the rep visually inspects the exterior of the entire vehicle with you and documents any damage (dings, dents, scratches, etc.). When returning the vehicle the rep compares the vehicle's "after" condition against the "before" notes. The rep for the leasing company should have documented the condition of your leased vehicle when you returned it in the same manner. In this case the rep should have explained to you any damage repair that you would be charged. Unless you have pictures of the vehicle on the day you returned it, I would say you have no proof the scratch did not exist previously. A reputable MB dealer would not make a practice of screwing over their customers.

The amount of SPAM that goes unchecked on this forum while mods hand out infractions for using acronyms that contain curse words would be laughable if it weren't so damn ridiculous.

With means to very easily take rather detailed pictures/video with our phones, there is no reason NOT to snag a video of the car when you take possession of it and the same when it gets turned in. Especially with a lease.
That being said, is too late for this now and I doubt involving an attorney for a $256 charge will work in your favor. Suck it up, try to negotiate a lesser amount on your own, and chalk it up to a lesson learned. |
See my post 3 , the car and the person does not exist.
Do a Google search for " I turned in my '15 Mercedes C300 to Anaheim MBZ at the end of its lease. " and you will see there is a 11 month old thread on reddit with the same exact wording. Anyone still think places like Yelp are accurate? |

Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think most people consider Yelp/reddit/etc to be all that relevant these days. |
