93 w124 random interior lights dimming
Got a weird thing going on where the interior lights will slowly pulsate. Not the gauge lights but the climate control, all lighted switches, lcd temp display, ect. Not too sure where to start with this one. Any pointers?

My first guess would be the voltage regulator.
Good luck!!!

It’s not all the lights just certain ones. Headlights and dash lights are solid. Was thinking the rheostat Because it controls all those lights but not sure why the gauge lights aren’t affected.

rheostat, good place to start
I had a similar problem with the dash button lighting vs the gauges and after several full range turns of the dimmer back and forth and it cleared up.
Have not looked at it in detail, but others that I have seen is basically a carbon track with metal contact wipers on the knob. Over time, gunk can accumulate and create intermittent contact issues, especially on a part like this that rarely gets excercised.

So it looks like the previous owner cut a lot of Wires when they put in a radio. It’s a mess. Random snipped wires all over the place. I think the wire to those lights is spliced into the radio. Need to find a diagram of the wire coloring.
