W124 subframe upgrades
Hi guys.
I was just wondering if there was sub frame, upgrades available for the w124? Im currently in the process of building a W124 M104 turbo, and wanted to know if there was any upgrades for the rear sub frame? Its more a question of curiosity as i believe the standard sub frame will take my BHP aims, but wondered had anyone changed theres for an upgraded or more modern one? Or is it just a case of OEM parts rebuild. Thanks again, Rob. |

V8 subframes (400E, 500E, E420, E500) are stronger.
If you want a bolt-on diff then you need one from a V8 cheap 4.2 has 2.24 ratio |

I did the V8 subframe swap on my 90 CE at the same time swapping a Quaife equipped diff. Its pretty straight forward. The only thing that isn't an exact match is the bracketry that mounts and routes the ABS sensor cable. Not a big deal at all. You will need the larger 210mm diff, if you don't already have one and the V8 specific cover for the diff.
I did a post about it in the performance paddock, though its mostly about the diff. "3.06 ATB Differential"
