a/c 134a retrofit kit??????
Came across this 2-WAY R-134a RETROFIT & charging kit in the wall mart auto section. This is a diy no hastle retrofit made by INTERDYNAMICS you do not have to remove old oil just the r-12 freon. Anyone use this kit and if so is it any good?

If it says you dont have to remove the old oil I wouldnt even touch it . The correct way to do a retrofit is to drain the oil out of compressor, fill compressor with the proper amount of pag oil ,replace reciever drier , pull vacuum on the system and recharge system with 15% less 134 than it takes 12. Otherwise you are wasting your time and money;)

On aircondition.com discussion forum, these are referred to as "death kits." This doesn't mean the death of the owner, but rather the death of the air conditioning system that they are used on.
R12 is coming back down in price, so it is becoming more and more feasible to stay with it. If you want to switch to r134 I strongly suggest that you do it right by completely dismantling the system, flushing everything everywhere, put it back together with the correct o-rings, replace the filter drier, use r134 compatible oil and evacuate the system thoroughly before charging the system with GUAGES.
