16v fuel pumps

i think one or both of the fuel pumps on my 16v are going bad. they make a loud whistle at WOT and make a hiss at idle. if i replace them, i would like to maybe upgrade a bit to a larger set of pumps to make my turbo buildup stronger and allow for tuning for increased fuel delivery if so needed when cranking up the boost. i know there is more to increasing fuel delivery than that, but since i'm going to replace the pumps anyway, i want to make sure they new pumps are up to any task. here's my question: does installing a larger/higher flow fuel pump change the fuel pressure at the injectors, if i don't make any other adjustments? that variable is controlled by another unit right? any other thoughts? any suggestions for lower cost pumps to use?

thanks

Pumps either work or they don`t. How can you hear the pump at WOT? If they are noisy, some noise is normal, you could clean them by removing and running them backwards with diesel fuel. The pressure is controled by a regulator. The factory pumps will flow enough fuel. Your injectors will be your limiting factor and unless you dreams are to change the whole injection system ($$$$$$$$)

Did Clinton change his pump?

i don't think clinton changed his pump. i wouldn't be considering doing this if i wasn't having a problem with the current ones. mainly i'm looking for a reliable, quality, lower cost alternative to the $200 bosch units, of which i'll have to buy two. my concern here is that since one or both of the pumps is screaming when i step on the throttle, i'm affraid it's going to stop working any time and leave me stranded.

BTW, when i open my trunk with the car idling, i can hear gas splashing all around in the tank. is that normal?

thanks
