I hate to disagree with you but I am 90% sure that MB uses the VR6 in its V-class van since it's the only powerful front wheel drive adaptable engine they found.

A quick check of MB's european (ie, German) site, mercedes-benz.com, will reveal that 3 CDI (diesel) and 2 inline-4 gasoline engines are offered in this vehicle.

Just checked the european Mercedes page about the V-class. There is a V280 available. Not sure if that is the Mercedes V6 or the VW Vr6 engine ? 170 hp ? hmm... VW ??

I asked a friend in the buisness and he said the V-6 was available in the 3.2, 2.8, and 2.6 sizes. This is the new M113 v/6 not the VW. I did learn that Mercedes does farm out some of the building but not the engines! Thanks for the brain teaser!

Thanks for clearing that up! I guess I mistook the "Vito" recreational vehicle for the new V class. One hell of a "minivan" though, this V class! A Benz for the whole family...
