89 190E M103 ignition system repair help.

Hello all, I’ve used this forum as a resource for information on my Mercedes cars for years. This is my first time posting!!
I just purchased a fairly decent 1989 190E 2.6 not running. PO told me no spark and that they have replace the ignition coil. At the ignition coil I have found a lead with an eyelet that belongs on a stud or bolt but I do not know where it belongs or if this coil is even wired correctly. Also, if the CPS is good shouldn’t I see the tack register engine speed while cranking. TIA

I’m trying to attach a photo currently of the wire in question but mobile view isn’t working for me and I’m trying to figure it out otherwise!

R:

Brown wires are ground wires. Clean off the eyelet, find a screw that goes into the chassis sheet metal, clean under the screw (bare metal), and ground that wire.

Ok, thank you very much. Brown wire is indeed a ground, I was getting 9v at that wire through Fluke multimeter so apparently I have a bad short back feeding somewhere or it was a fluke(pun intended). Now I have a dead fuel pump relay. Should I start a new thread for help with that?
