94 C280 Wiring Harness Gone Bad
Hello All,
I have read on this board that the early C280's had a problem with headgasket leakage and wiring harness failure. My parents have a 94 C280. Sure enough when I poped the hood the passenger side of the engine was wet from oil near the front and the wires at the temp sender craked when I barely touched them. So far there isn't any problems other than a drop of oil on the driveway every so often. It seems that there is the potential for problems in the future. Any way to get MBUSA to cover any of this stuff before it really fails? Thanks in advance. Last edited by mbsickness; 10-22-2002 at 01:47 PM. |

i think you still have a shot at it since it has been in your family all this time. read up on the strategies to take with the dealership if they give you a hard time. if they do the head gasket they should do the harness too while they are at it...

On the c280 not only the engine harness goes bad but the ea,cc/isc actuator or (throttle valve assy) also goes bad. On e class 92-95 starter harness, engine harness and throttle valve are bad. On the c-220 engine harness, trans harness, throttle valve , and air pump with harness goes bad. On 140's same as above except the starter harness is also alternator harness and when it shorts out throw in a pushbutton assy and a cluster. On the diesels glow plug harness and on some later ones the fog light harness.Keep in mind there are other harness that go bad not just engine harness".
