Need help (W124) Cabrio
I know how to remove the tops on every other MB, but the (W124) convertable is a tricky little bugger. The problem is there is no way to power up the car, b/c of an engine fire. We need to remove the top and can't figure out how. The leading edge is no problem, it is just the rear. Any thoughts or experiences ???

WHEN LOOKING THRU THE REAR GLASS FROM INSIDE, THERE IS A METALL STRIP BELOW THE GLASS WITH PHILLIP HEAD SCREWS IN IT. REMOVE THEM & THE METAL. YOU WILL FIND AN OPENING WITH 2 5.5 MM NUTS. REMOVE THOSE. YOU WILL THEN FIND 2 10 MM NUTS. REMOVE THOSE & THE REAR LATCH WILL COME OFF. THEN YOU CAN LIFT UP THE REAR PORTION. THERE IS A SPECIAL TOOL TO RELEASE THE COMPARTMENT LID.
