W124 Cruise amplifier connector question.

1989 300ce

I'm doing the vacuum pods and while waiting for parts decided to remove an aftermarket remote start from the car. For more access I removed the cruise amplifier. I noticed that someone had removed the #14 pin and brown wire from the connector and jumpered it to one of the adjacent brown wires going to the connector. Could this have been something done to accommodate the remote start or could there have been another reason for doing this? Any guesses?

Thanks
Jorg
