‘88 560 SL Distributor Timing
Hi, I moved my car’s distributor while changing the coolant pump. I have it back in near the correct spot. What should the ignition on Cylinder 1 be on the crank dampener timing marks during cranking? I thought this would be a good quick check.

R:
The position of the distributor does not affect timing. There is a flywheel pickup for ignition timing/triggering. |

On 1986 and newer m117 the timing is done by the crank sensor so as long as you didn't remove it you should be good
