My 1987 500SE found fluid leaking from the oil reservior's upper connecting pipe (a steel pipe connected to the reservior and other end joint with the rubber hose). Had tried to tighten the nut at the reservior side but still found moisture of fluid leaks from the reservior's side (at the connecting nut) after driving. I was wonder if the connector between reservior and steel pipe contains seal O ring (in this 1987 model) or just direct coupling? Any idea how to fix? TKS.

You can try use plumbing tape to seal the
connection...but don't over tight the hose
don't cross thread use your finger tight first then use tool.

In my experience, it is the small hose that is leaking and not the steel pipe. The small hose has to be the factory stuff or it will leak also you should use the factory clamps.

Tks for both reply!

The leaking is occured between the steel piping that connecting to the reservior (not the rubber hose, the rubber hose is perfect.) and I had tighten the connecting nut but still found mositure. I just do'nt know the connector nut contains seal O ring or it was just direct coupling from steel pipe to reservior tank, if it contains o ring, then may be I can try to replace it. Any idea? TKS!

It has an aluminum seal crush ring under the head of the pipe.
