W124 Rear seat Head rests

How do I make the w124 Headrests in the rear retract?

I have a dash switch to make them come up, but do not know how to make them retract.

This is on my 1991 300D sedan.

With the W124 you have to grip them with the handle and pull them to the up position . No up on the buttons just down only ./

To retract the rear head restraints press the symbol-side of the rocker switch with the engine running. The rear head restraints must be pulled forward (until they lock in place) to get them in the upright position.

They are already in the upright position, I just want to know how to make them retract. Switch does not seem to work, or the motors are not getting power. Is the a manual way to make them retract?

As someone said, that dash switch does not cause the rear headrests to rise up into an upright position. Also rrgrassi, there are no motors related to the rear headrests.

With the engine running (and creating vacuum), pressing the dash button lets vacuum in to vacuum actuators, which unlock the rear headrests in an upright position. Gravity then causes the head rests to thump down.

To raise the headrests, one uses ones hands to lift them back to the upright locked position.

Do not try to push the headrests down without holding the dash switch.
