My '87 560SL transmission fluid is clear and pink, and I'd like to keep it that way. According to the shop records, the trans was rebuilt about 10K ago. As I live in Las Vegas, the summers really take a toll on auto transmissions.

Would you recommend adding an additional (to the standard radiator one) trans cooler for this car? It does get driven daily, often in stop & go traffic.

As long as you keep the tranny serviced every 30K you will be fine. I havn't seen much trouble out of these. The oil to water cooler does a great job.
