When my '94 E320 was having a serious problem maintaining a steady idle, it turned out to be a massive vacuum leak through a hole in the intake manifold.

I installed the rebuilt throttle body and thanks to David Hendy for the purge valve, reasonance valve, and MAF. The surging is gone .....but at the park position its at 1000rpm and at the drive position drops to normal 600 to 650 rpm...I swaped out the egas module as well. When i remove the linkage from the throttle body it idles normal at park and drive position. What to do next???

I too suspect a vacuum leak.

Mystery solved, the throttle body gasket was no good. Changed it with a new one and car runs great.
I guess vacuum leak right at the throttle body. |
