I bought this car about 2.5 months ago and the hi-beams didn't work. I have changed the fuses and that didn't fix it. Just been living with low-beams only. The car had been sitting up for a while. Since I've been using it regularly, Some of the components that didn't work when I got the car have began to spring back to life. For example: about a week ago, for no apparent reason, the "lights out" warning on the dash began to flicker and now stays on whenever the lights are on. I wasn't aware there was such a system until the flicker, and I checked the owner's manual; but it now seems to be working. Can a defect in this system cause the hi-bean problem? Where are the components and how could I check it?

All of the bulbs that are controlled by the light switch go through the bulb failure monitoring unit. If one of the circuits fails, that bulb will not light and the light on the dash will illuminate. Also, if you have ANY ONE bulb that is out or of the wrong wattage, it will come on. Be sure to chech the tag illumination bulbs, they have gotten many techs. The control unit is inside of the fuse box at the rear and is about 3-4 inches long and about 1in wide. good luck
