560 SL Fuel Problem

My 1987 560 SL is in an indie shop for a slight stumble. The mechanic notes that 3 cylinders appear to be running slightly lean and, after checking compression (ok), injectors (new), ignition system (ok), has conluded that it is a problem with the fuel distributer. Has any one had experience with this type of problem? Also, there's a 1985 380 SE fuel distributer for sale on e-bay. Would it fit this engine?

No it is definitely not the same fuel distributer, and I would not recommend that you shop for one on eBay unless you like to live dangerously.

Fuel Problem

Thanks for the good advice. Does anyone know what would cause a car to lose power and run lean on hard acceleration?
Can this be caused by cabon buildup? Clogged fuel filter? Phase of the moon? Any help greatly appreciated.

Fuel Distributor

If you dont want to spend the $1700+ for a new fuel distributor, try adsitco.com, they sell guaranteed rebuilt mercedes parts. I had the same problem with my 500 SEC, i purchased a rebuilt distributor from them, came in two days, rebuilt by bosch, it worked beautifully, only $700!

Thanks. I may give them a try.

$700 is not a good price at all. You can do much, much better on a rebuilt unit.
