Steering wheel play
 

The 240D I justpurchased has a fair amount of playin the steering wheel. It is on the steering wheel side and notthe tie rods to the wheels.

Can this be tightened up?

If you are sure the play is in the steering box, the box can be adjusted, there is an adjustment screw on it to reduce the amount of play.

Do a search for the specific instructions, and remember not to make it too tight, otherwise the box will wear itself out quickly.

What a difference. The jam nut is rather tight but I just pinned the wrnech against the oil filter housing and adjusted the allen screw.

Took less than 20 minutes.
