Racka Racka II

Donnie,

Sorry I have been out of touch for a while.

I have now replaced the oil pump and its associated check valve, but the racka racka's continue to haunt me.

As crazy as it sounds, we are contemplating installing a delay switch on the ignition to allow the engine to be "turned over" thereby pressurizing of the oil lube system prior to actually starting the motor.

While I know I have gone over the edge now, Is there any downside to this adventure?

Desperate but still...____ retentive

PS, REvbond mentioned the air pump. While it doesn't seem like the air pump, how can i check it to be certain.

PS, I may have duplicated this under the previous Racka Racka thread. If so, please forgive.

The check valve we spoke of is located in the oil filter canister. Once it is replaced with the chain tensioner and new rails, the noise should be gone. I have done a few of these with good results.

I would take of the valve cover on the right side and BE SURE that none of the rails are broken. I have seen them break only on the bottom and it is hard to detect.
