I just got a 1969 280sl with a 5 speed man trans. I find the accelerator awfully stiff and when I try to assert more pressure on it the revs fly up. Is there an adjustment for the accelerator pedal or is there something I can do to "soften" the pedal?

Remove all of the linkages and ball joints under the hood and clean and lube them with a light oil such as trans fluid. Be sure not to mix them up for they are all a specified length!

Well... I have the same problem on my 91 300CE. I dont know if its a good idea.... but i thought I could to find the tensioner spring, remove it, add a keyring loop to it, to effectively lengthen the spring. Should work fine. ;-)...now if I could only remove that 1 inch of slack from the pedal aswell... ;-)
