smog pump system problem

The air discharge hose on the smog pump keeps popping loose from the connection. When I reconnect it securely, and crank the engine, I can hear the hose pop off with a bang......as though it's under excess pressure.

In looking at the smog pump system, the pump takes air suction from a hose attached to the air filter. When the pump discharges the air, it first travels through an "air injection shut-off valve". This shut off valve is operated (either opened or closed) by the "air injection switch-over valve"(vacuum operated). After the shut off valve, the air travels to the "air injection check valve" mounted on the engine.

I'm guessing that one of the valves in the system isn't working.

Please help. Bill
