W124 Hardcopy Manuals

Brothers of the Benz,
I've been away for some time, had permanent residence in our local Hospital.
Have been released for good behavor.
Only have one more biopcy(bone this time).
I sold my 1987 300E after14 years of faithful service.
I didn't addvertise but word of mouth from my favorite M/B Dealer.
He had 189,xxx miles and went for a budget price of $5995.00.
I don't know if that was fair but I was pleased.
Since I no longer have a M/B the shop manuals and Technical Data Book are of no value to me.
I seperated the manuals and punched for three hole binder; makes it easier to use and I would remove a page(s) and make a copy to take to the work sight.
Considerring the Hard Copies are no longer available, I'm going to offer mine to the highest bidder plus frieght.

Now do you want to hear a kicker?
I evaluated the new cars for over 6 weeks even to the point of test driving all of the Nippon manufactures models and the Germanic as well.
After all of the effort I settled for a 2002 "Hyndia XG350L".
If you question my sanity, check them out.
At age 67 years and with a warrantee of 10 years 100,000 miles this will be my last.
Happy Trails Beep Beep from The Spiderman in Houston!!!

You sold your MB but,

I hope you can still participate in this forum. I enjoy your creative touches and your knowledge in vehicles.:p Eventhough, you bought a korean car with a name that you (or I) can even spell right.
Good luck and enjoy life, you only have one...

Donald,
Add me to the list of well-wishers! I completely understand your move to a car with a long warranty, to try to eliminate at least one of life's stressors.

Good health to you!
Steve

Hope everything works out for ya.

As for the XG350, I agree. It will blow your socks off it is so smooth and quiet. Close your eyes and I guarantee you'd you think you're in a Lexus.

I rented one when I flew into New Jersey last month. It was late at night, and honest to God, I thought it was the new Lincoln LS.

Loaded my bags in, drove to Edison, New Jersey to the Sheraton Hotel. The whole way there I was admiring the high quality interior and the smooth power delivery of the engine. I was thinking to myself that Lincoln sure did a nice job with the LS! I was thinking that the Americans finely built something that is surely competitive with the likes of the Japanese (but not MB).

When I arrived at the hotel and opened the trunk to retrieve my bags, I didn't recognize the badge on the trunk, and then it hit me: a Hyundai! I couldn't believe it!

I know it's not a Mercedes, but trust me, drive one and you won't believe how nice it is.

The Koreans are beyond catching up. They have easily leap-frogged the Americans, and are right there with the Japanese.

Donald, glad to hear from You!

I have missed the informative writing you used to grace us with and do hope you stop by hear every now and then to throw in a word or two. That would be nice.

BTW, can you by chance list the manuals you have?

Thanks.

Donald,

Glad to see you're still kicking around the Shop. So what if you sold the Lad, you still have plenty of experience to share.

Judging by the procedures mentioned, I hope you're spending that time at M.D. Anderson rather than visiting our friends at Houston N.W. The Docs at Anderson took real good care of my Mom, my uncle and one of my academy instructors.

Take care of yourself, stop by once and a while. Tomorrow after the match I'll pop an extra top for you .

Howdy

Donald, Brother of the Benz, fellow 300E series devotee:

Glad you're well. Missed your posts. Hope that you will stick around for a long time.

I don't know about Hunday cars. But my first new computer was a Hunday. I bought it about 16 years ago. It was a very nice computer.

Suginami:

Hate to disagree with you bro. But if you think that the Koreans have leap-frogged the Yanks, you have then obviously never driven my Daddy's 2001 Seville STS or my wife's 2002 YukonXL.

I couldn't believe all of you have so many things to tear my eyes.
And the impression of those who have expeienced the XG350, I'm more impressed everyday. I look at the sheet metal alignment the air gap between the components.i.e doors to body hood to body etc. What a joy my little(?) kimchee burner is.

It is nice to hear from you again Donald. I was concerned for a bit there, as you suddenly stopped posting. When I first joined this board about this time last year, your Spiderman posts were legendary -- very eloquent, well-written and poetic. I admired your vast knowledge, and how you meticulously kept up your 300E. The El Cheapo product line was truly impressive to me and I'm sure other DIY'ers who get satisfaction out of fixing their Benz on their own while keeping $$$ in their pocket.

I'm glad to hear you are doing well, and that you are enjoying your new car.

I hope that you will still visit this board on occasion, to offer a tip or two, or just to say hello.

Take care

~Paul

W124 Manuals

Brothers of The Benz; I'm sorry I haven't replied to the Highest bidder takes all.
Joan and I have been very busy these past weeks.
If you didn't know that Joan and I live in a patio home.
We wanted a secure place to save? invest some money.
We looked at anuities, stock and whatall.
We decided to buy real estate.
We had enough capital to buy a nice little 3 br, dr, den 2 1/2 bath, 2 car garage and pay cash for it.
The savings comes in not leasing but owning.
We close on the 14Aug02.
Joan and I were told that when you reach our ages(65+), there are 3 things you should have;
A new car (paid for)
A home (paid for)
Health insurance
We now have all 3.

Now back to the manuals.
Bidding is closed and I have 2 bidding the same,
They are, Phillip G.F.
and Seran H.
I will contact them via e-mail

Once more, thank all of you for the kind remarks made about my absence from the shop.
Happy Trails Beep Beep from the Spiderman in Houston!!!
God Bless you all and America.

Mr. Swinford, I am sad that you no longer have your Benz, but happy that you have a reliable and safe good car. Good Luck and Good Health!

I emailed you about your Benz a bit ago, and alas, I did not buy it. I recently got a local, rough, not well taken care of, but straight ‘86 300E with 153k, for cheap (OK, it was less than half of your 198k miler, so I really think you got your car’s worth). Not something I would recommend to many people, but at least I will be much better taken care of in a crash, if I have one, over my ‘80 VW Rabbit Pickup (who stays in the family, it’s just so darned useful!).

My family would be very happy to help you list your books on eBay, if you like, or list them for you (we would need you to send us the books for photos of them or good photos of them first). No Charge for you, sir. You have given me way too much free advice for that. Your books are out of print and usually fetch a decent price. Let us know and well do it.

Oops, I just noticed your bidding is closed. Sorry and hope I have not offended. Offer for eBay stand if something falls through.
