MB Shift Knob, What model?
1 Attachment(s)
Hello MBers,
Can anyone tell me what model this shift knob will fit? I bought it assuming it would work on my 201 (1991 190E), but the shaft has a different bend and is a little longer. Maybe a 126 or 107? Thanks for your help. Randal |
It sure looks like the shaft for the R107 and W123.
|
Is there any way you can get the knob off of the shaft?
Sometimes they are glued on and sometimes they screw on. A buddy of mine bought a new shift knob for his 300E, and the knob was made to fit a W140. So he cut off the old black knob with a utility knife, and glued on the new knob. Worked like a charm and looks perfect. |
Yeah, kind of looks like w123.

here's my old one.
I am thinking of cutting the rubber off and gluing a nice leather/wood one from the newer cars... |
Shift Knob
Holson,
Your shift knob looks to be familiar. The shaft is much shorter, is this for a manual trans. car? Thanks for your reply. Randal |
I think it's the scale of the picture :)
It's an automatic W123 shift knob from a 240D or is it from the 300CD.. I don't know.. either one of them. |

He bought it from:
www.************************ and it was about $65 or $85. I don't remember. It may or may not be listed on their internet site. There is a lot of stuff they have only in the catalog. A little pricey, but it sure is a nice upgrade. He got the zebrano wood version, with black leather at the top half of the knob, and the top center has the Mercedes Logo. |

Why pay that much? For about $15 you can buy a replacement shaft called an adapter shaft, without a knob, from the same company. It allows you to screw in any type of newer mercedes or aftermarket knob. You have to call them up because the adapter shafts are not viewable on the website if you don't have a catalog. |
The knob itself is $65-$85.
The shaft is only about $5.00. |
Do they have a shaft for the W123? (If anyone has a catalog?)
It'd be interesting to use some newer shafts.. |
The catalog I have only shows the knobs.
If you give them a call on the 800 number or ask via their website, I'm sure they have one for the 123's. I hope he doesn't mind my saying, but my buddy who cut off his black knob and glued on the new one is Hi-Power. PM him to ask how he did it. |
