1972 W108 280SEL 4.5 AC Dead
 

Hi I recently purchased this vehicle and the AC is dead. Want to troubleshoot before turning over to a mechanic to resolve and save some money if I can. No response when turning on the system. Any suggestions on common issue(s)?

Also, does anyone have a fuse box diagram to start there?

Yes, there are four double fuse holders beneath the hood along the firewall.

The 16 amp AC fuse and 16 amp auxiliary fan fuses are in the third holder from the right fender.

The main fuse box is in the driver's footwell next to the light. The elongated cover has two thumbscrews.
