Disabling traction control on 93 500SEL?

how do you disable the very obtrusive traction control system on the W140 93 500SEL? every time i get on the gas, at even the slightest hint of wheelspin, the traction control cuts in, and applies the brakes to spinning wheel(s). is there a fuse you could pull which disables the system?

thanks.

Is the system broken or do you always drive with your foot to the floor.

MB suggests that to run an ASR car on a dyno that one should unplug the hydraulic actuator. It is not suggested to deactivate the controller (as a fuse might), as the controller needs to process certain signals that the engine management system needs. Once the car is off the dyno, it is then stated that one must go back and erase all the codes doing such will cause.

I have a question while were on the topic...

The ASR manual (in the glove compartment) of my 93 300SE sais something about the computer deciding how much power the accelerator will allow. What is this, why is it good, and how does it work? My owners manual also sais something about ABS pulsing the brake pedal when i apply the brakes in the rain to remind me the its damp, and ABS is there.

How old/what brand are the tires on your car, Chris? If ASR gets involved, it is only when wheelspin occurs, not ever before (in the sense of preventing wheelspin bt not allowing power-doesn't work that way). If you want to tack ASR offline, unhook a front wheelspeed sensor...but you lose ABS too
